Pat Keogh Memorial Scholarship

Patrick Keogh, as a professional civil engineer, spent his career operating and designing wastewater treatment systems and environmental improvement projects. He spent 23 years with Alcoa, where Pat was a site manager. At the Bauxite operations site, Pat took great pride in solving some of the most complex and large-scale environmental improvement projects around. This included developing new treatment technologies for selenium and reclaiming hundreds of former mine land acres back to productive silviculture. Pat also took great pride in mentoring young professionals.

The Arkansas Environmental Federation Pat Keogh Memorial Scholarship assists students who intend to pursue careers addressing concerns of industry with regard to sound science and stewardship of Arkansas’s environment.

AEF Regulatory Relief Request in response to COVID-19

AE&E/DEQ releases COVID-19 Regulatory Guidance

The broad enforcement guidlines ask for entities to submit a request for regulatory flexibility on an individual basis to COVID19EE@adeq.state.ar.us. AEF reccomends copying the division director and other pertinent DEQ personnel to your request.

Missouri Department of Natural Resources Addresses Regulatory Relief Requests

The Memorandum notes that the agency’s “compliance-assistance approach” remains in effect and that it will continue to work with all entities “that demonstrate a sincere commitment to compliance.” Further acknowledged is that some entities may need to prioritize compliance activities. Emphasized as a first priority is protecting human health and the environment. Documentation of such efforts is required “to the greatest extent possible.” However, MDNR recognizes that reduced workforces may mean timely reporting could be a challenge. As a result, it is willing to accept alternate reporting schedules where appropriate.

EPA issued regulatory relief letter.
